why ethereal reads?

Filed under: introduction — etherealfire @ 4:32 am

Greetings, beautiful people of the internet and welcome to my booklog, something I’ve really wanted to create for a long while. When the opportunity arose to easily create a WordPress blog through my most awesome webspace provider, Dreamhost, I decided to take the plunge!

In listing some of the better book blogs to be found online, I began to feel a bit self-conscious about the whole process, so here comes the disclaimer/caveat, for a lack of a better explanation. I’m not a literary critic or even particularly well-read (i.e. I have not read most of the classics beyond any high school or college assigned reads and I’m not a regular reader of the latest greatest loftiest literature to be found out there in the great big world of reading) but I’m sort of hoping that this blog will serve as inspiration and a reminder to broaden my horizons in that area a bit more. What I am is a voracious reader who has the desire and opportunity to track my ongoing reads and in doing so, hopefully, discover a little bit more about myself, in addition to the world around me.

It’s been said that ” you are what you eat” and I think that statement holds true for the kind of reading a person engages in as well. Having said that, I think that there is a place for every kind of book in every kind of genre, and the act of reading itself is a great habit for anyone to develop and a great way to stretch the imagination, learn something new and one of the loveliest, most blissful ways to spend those precious blocks of coveted free time.

All this is my apology for some of the content that may come through here; I am, for one thing, completely addicted to bodice-rippers, self-help books and new agey type books. It’s really not so much as an apology actually, as it is a confession of some of my guilty pleasures. It also serves as a heads-up about what you can expect to be reading about here. For great literary reader blogs, scan my sidebar. I think there are some fantastic ones listed there. For an admittedly self-indulgent tour of my bookshelf, feel free to read what I’m going to post here. I’ve wanted to have a way to track what I’ve been reading for a long, long time and this is the avenue I’ve decided to use to do so; if it is of interest to anyone else, fantastic! If not, I could totally understand but I’m going to post here for fun and to share with anyone else who might really really wanna know! So here goes!
